Softball Recap: Orofino Triumphs

Orofino lost to Grangeville back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Maniacs came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 9-4.

Reece Deyo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Rilee Diffin and Livia Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Diffin went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Johnson went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Diffin is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sady Olive, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Orofino's record is now 7-1. As for Grangeville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldogs beat Orofino by a score of 22-12 later that day.
