Softball Game Preview: Bronson Eagles vs. Dixie County Bears

Bronson is 1-9 against Dixie County since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bronson Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dixie County Bears at 7:00 p.m. Bronson will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Bronson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Hawthorne 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Maddie Dean made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jordyn Paige was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Dean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Bronson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Dixie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Bell.

Bronson's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Dixie County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Dixie County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Bronson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
