Softball Game Preview: Mashpee Falcons vs. Rising Tide

The Mashpee Falcons will venture away from home to challenge Rising Tide at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mashpee has given up an average of 22.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Mashpee came up short against Nashoba Valley Tech and fell 15-10. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mashpee got a massive performance out of Tess Provencher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI. Another player making a difference was Michelle Gonsalves, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rising Tide didn't have quite enough to beat Wareham on Monday and fell 6-4. The contest marked Rising Tide's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Rising Tide saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Melby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Melby has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rising Tide fell to 8-1. As for Mashpee, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mashpee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .619. However, it's not like Rising Tide struggles in that department as they've averaged .571. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Mashpee might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Rising Tide in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
