Basketball Recap: Black Hills Takes a Loss

Black Hills played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Ridgefield Spudders, falling 57-37. The Wolves were down 48-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Black Hills lost, don't look at Ellie Johnson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson has become a key player for Black Hills: the team is 12-3 when she posts at least eight boards, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Venable, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Black Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Black Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Ridgefield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Black Hills nor Ridgefield have any future games scheduled.
