Basketball Game Preview: Shelter Island Islanders vs. Ross

After both having extra time off, the Shelter Island Islanders and Ross will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelter Island will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Shelter Island is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bridgehampton two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Shelter Island had to suffer through a 76-28 loss at the hands of Bridgehampton. The Islanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Meanwhile, Ross was beaten by Bridgehampton 62-25 back in December of 2024. Ross was down 55-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Shelter Island's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ross, they now have a losing record at 0-1.

Shelter Island came up short against Ross in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 35-30. Can Shelter Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
