Basketball Recap: Peak to Peak Takes a Loss

On Thursday, the Peak to Peak Pumas came up short against the Denver Christian Thunder and fell 59-50.

When it comes to explaining why Peak to Peak lost, don't look at Alexandra Eschmeyer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 37 points and 19 boards. The match was Eschmeyer's 16th in a row with at least 15 points. Neve Gustafson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Peak to Peak smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver Christian only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Denver Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noelani Book out in front who posted 14 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the most assists Book has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Bohannon, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and four blocks.

Peak to Peak's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Denver Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Peak to Peak will challenge Bennett at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bennett will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Peak to Peak surely won't give up without a fight. As for Denver Christian, they will square off against The Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver Christian is facing The Academy at the right time seeing as The Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
