Lydia Cornett leads a balanced attack to beat Rising Sun

Recap: South Ripley Raiders vs. Rising Sun Shiners

The South Ripley Raiders won against the Rising Sun Shiners last Friday with 51 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. South Ripley came out on top against Rising Sun by a score of 51-44. Winning may never get old, but South Ripley sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

South Ripley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lydia Cornett, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cornett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Obendorf, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Despite the defeat, Rising Sun saw an underclassman step up: Jaylen Peelman scored 14 points. Alyssa Simpson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

South Ripley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Rising Sun, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Ripley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Oldenburg Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Oldenburg Academy will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Rising Sun, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trinity Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
