Baseball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Heath Bulldogs

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will face off against the Heath Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Johnstown-Monroe and Licking Heights, and Licking Heights kept the tradition alive. The Johnnies fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.

Carter Holbrook was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Johnstown-Monroe is 2-1 when Holbrook posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Heath had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three last Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Yellowjackets.

Heath's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Johnstown-Monroe couldn't quite get it done against Heath in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 8-5. Can the Johnnies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
