Soccer Recap: Manatee Takes a Loss

Manatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Berkeley Prep this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in November.

Manatee was without their leading scorer, Anthony Ramos, in Friday's match. With Ramos sidelined, the Hurricanes had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Jackson Zoller (65), Christopher Sanchez-Perez (60), and Edgar Marquez-Garcia (70). The trio had averaged 38.6, 32.9, and 41.7 minutes respectively before Friday's contest.

Manatee's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for Berkeley Prep, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 4-5-1.

Looking ahead, Manatee will host Hardee at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Berkeley Prep, they will venture away from home to challenge Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley Prep will be up against Anclote's rather soft defense (which has allowed 7.38 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
