Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is East Chambers' 14th in Last 17 Outings

East Chambers won the last time they faced O'Connell and things went their way on Monday too. The East Chambers Buccaneers walked away with a 76-63 win over the O'Connell Buccaneers.

Defeat or not, O'Connell got some senior leadership from Derrick Kirks Jr and Roderick Dozier. Kirks Jr went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and five steals, while Dozier dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards. The matchup was Dozier's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrius Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

East Chambers is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for O'Connell, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5.

East Chambers wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-59 victory against Orangefield on the 3rd. As for O'Connell, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-36 win against Van Vleck on the 3rd.
