Baseball Game Preview: Childress Bobcats vs. Lamesa Tornadoes

The Childress Bobcats will take on the Lamesa Tornadoes on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Childress is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Slaton by a score of 12-7. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly five runs.

Childress let Luke Rodriguez and Drake Rabe run wild. Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Rabe went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Childress is undefeated when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 10-11-1 otherwise. Creedan Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Childress always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Slaton only posted an OBP of .382.

Meanwhile, Lamesa waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They beat the Bucks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-2.

Childress' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-11-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lamesa, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.

Everything went Childress' way against Lamesa in their previous matchup back in February, as Childress made off with a 14-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
