Baseball Recap: Caldwell Comes Up Short

Caldwell had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-18 to make it ten. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nampa Bulldogs. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Eric Kammerman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Moss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Nampa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Nampa's side, Konnor Rae looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rae has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nampa let Jaxon Wade and Nathan Kessinger run wild. Wade went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Kessinger went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Wade has posted since back in March. Carter Smalley also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Caldwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nampa, they will face off against Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
