Palm Bay is 2-8 against Heritage since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pirates will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Palm Bay has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Palm Bay will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Westwood on Wednesday. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 30-15. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pirates' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Amirah Roberts was a standout: she scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Miya Reed was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.
Palm Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 21-4 to Space Coast.
Heritage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Medina, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Palm Bay, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.
Palm Bay's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Pirates have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Palm Bay continue to outrun the ball?
Palm Bay might still be hurting after the 20-5 defeat they got from Heritage when the teams last played back in March. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
