Volleyball Recap: Masuk Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Shelton

Masuk faced Shelton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Gaels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gaels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Friday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-18.

Daniel Ferris paced Masuk's offense, picking up ten kills. Ferris got some help from Nathan Kurkoski and his 21 assists. Ferris also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Nick Adams, racking up two apiece.

Cooper Bacca was nothing short of spectacular for Shelton: he had 25 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Bacca has posted since back in April.

Masuk's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Shelton, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Masuk wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Bunnell on the 20th. As for Shelton, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Xavier on the 19th.
