Volleyball Recap: Carley Niese's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Highland over Aurora

If Highland was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Medina last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets lost 3-0 to the Aurora Greenmen on Tuesday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greenmen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-22, 26-24.

Highland's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carley Niese, who had 15 digs. Niese is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Andrews, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Highland now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Aurora, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Highland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Copley on the 28th. As for Aurora, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Revere on the 28th.
