Softball Recap: Prairie Ridge Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Prairie Ridge extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 17-1-1 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huntley Red Raiders, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since April 14th.

As for Huntley, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly two runs.

For Huntley's part, Gretchen Huber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Huntley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Ginczycki, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Prairie Ridge and Huntley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Wolves (ranked 25th) will meet Cary-Grove (ranked 325th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Huntley will challenge Hampshire at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (30 vs. 119).
