Basketball Game Preview: Denver West Cowboys vs. Peak to Peak Pumas

Denver West's tournament run continued when they took on Thomas Jefferson last Friday. Denver West took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thomas Jefferson.

Denver West's defeat came about despite a quality game from Alesha Munoz, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shukri Hussein, who had eight points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Peak to Peak had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-24 margin over the Cardinals. The Pumas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Denver West better keep an eye on Alexandra Eschmeyer. She was instrumental in Peak to Peak's win, dropping a double-double with 34 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Eschmeyer's 23rd in a row with at least 15 points. Sydney Lewis was another key player, putting up two points and five steals.

Peak to Peak was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only seven assists.

Peak to Peak's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. As for Denver West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
