Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Takes a Loss

Victory Christian and Coosa Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Victory Christian had to settle for second. They fell 78-70 to the Coosa Christian Conquerors. The Lions have struggled against the Conquerors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Victory Christian lost, don't look at Amelia Haney. Despite the final result, she went 10 of 21 en route to 28 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. That was a full 40% of Victory Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Addie Lee, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 16 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Haney wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Victory Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Victory Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Coosa Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
