South Dakota basketball tournaments suspended by request from governor

The South Dakota High School Activities Association announced Friday boys and girls state basketball games have been postponed after a plea from Gov. Kristi Noem, according to media reports.
SDHSAA executive director Dan Swartos left open the possibility of resuming the tournament is the coronavirus situation changes in the next few weeks.
"Our goal would be to make sure we could finish this tournament for the kids, because they've worked hard for it," he told
the Argus Leader.
He said the season is "on hold" and that teams would not be allowed to practice.
Swartos said the impact on spring sports would looked at later.
