Softball Recap: East Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oxford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oxford Hornets a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their two-run performance the match before.

Ferri Ava made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Caelyn Rodriguez was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Cross Daria was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

East has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Oxford, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
