Grandview Prep triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Xavian Charles

Recap: Grandview Prep Pride vs. Donna Klein Jewish Academy Eagles

The Grandview Prep Pride entered their tilt with the Donna Klein Jewish Academy Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Grandview Prep narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Donna Klein Jewish Academy 66-63. Given Grandview Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Donna Klein Jewish Academy is ranked 541st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Xavian Charles was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Markenson Jordonne was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Donna Klein Jewish Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tal Kessous, who scored 22 points along with two steals. Kessous hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Lewin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Grandview Prep's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Donna Klein Jewish Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 12-5 record last season and are now at 5-8.

Grandview Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Somerset Academy - Canyons at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Somerset Academy - Canyons has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Donna Klein Jewish Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Lake Worth Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Worth Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
