Jefferson rises to occasion at adidas Nations

Pennsylvania prep standout Amile Jefferson tacks up 25 and 10 to lead senior stars to victory in adidas Nations final.

Amile Jefferson scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help USA 2012 Blue rally for a 114-107 over USA 2013 Red on Monday night in the final of adidas Nations, the signature event of the shoe company's summer grassroots efforts.

Jefferson, a five-star, 6-foot-7 combo forward from Friends' Central (Wynnewoode, Pa.), helped the team of rising seniors erase a double-digit deficit in the second half. He averaged 19.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in five games at the event, which was played in Los Angeles.

USA 2012 Blue also received strong play from Andre Drummond, Rodney Purvis and Cameron Ridley. No. 1-ranked prospect Shabazz Muhammad and five-star 7-footer Isaiah Austin were also slated to participate with the team but sat out with injuries.

USA 2013 Red was led by Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas) twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison and 6-9 Florida phenom Chris Walker.

Teams featuring players from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America also participated in the three-day tournament.

Arizona commitment Gabe York tallied 23 points, five rebounds and four assists to lead USA 2012 Red to a comfortable victory over USA 2013/2014 Blue.

The rising seniors led 58-52 at the half and behind the play of York, Kevin Ferrell, Kyle Anderson and Kaleb Tarczewski steadily increased their advantage over the second 20 minutes.

York continued his stellar summer campaign at adidas Nations, averaging 24.2 points per game over five games in Los Angeles.

Both the third-place and championship games were televised live by the CBS Sports Network.
