Essex dropped their record down to 8-10-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Westmoreland Eagles by a score of 6-4. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Westmoreland, they now have a winning record of 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Essex since April 25, 2023.

For Westmoreland's part, Essex's batters probably weren't too happy with Emma Burgess, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up four walks). Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Burgess.

At the plate, Westmoreland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Jett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Essex has already played their next contest, a 16-6 defeat against Lancaster on the 20th. As for Westmoreland, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Middlesex at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
