Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Teddies vs. Minneapolis South Tigers

The Roosevelt Teddies are taking a road trip to take on the Minneapolis South Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt will be strutting in after a win while Minneapolis South will be coming in after a defeat.

Roosevelt barely beat Highland Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Teddies' pitcher stepped up to hand the Scots a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Teddies needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Williams, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Washburn.

Alex Menth made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Oliver Lindstrom, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Minneapolis South, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Roosevelt skirted past Minneapolis South 6-5 when the teams last played last Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Teddies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
