Cory-Rawson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked the Fighting Hornets' highest-scoring contest to date.

Mason Hall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.

Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dom Moon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Austin Inbody also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Cory-Rawson's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Cory-Rawson will take on Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Commodores' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Fighting Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, they will face off against Elgin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
