Basketball Recap: Galeton Takes a Loss

If Galeton was riding high fresh off their 41-13 takedown of Williamson on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers took a 46-32 bruising from the Port Allegany Gators on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 62-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Port Allegany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarrod Funk, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Funk has scored at least a third of the Gators' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Hawver, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Galeton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Port Allegany, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Galeton is set to take on their familiar foe Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Port Allegany will challenge rival Coudersport at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
