Preview: Sam Houston Texans vs. Arlington Colts
Sam Houston is on a six-game streak of home losses, Arlington a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Sam Houston Texans will take on the Arlington Colts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Sam Houston is ranked 690th, while Arlington is ranked 671st).
On Wednesday, Sam Houston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-52 to Grand Prairie.
Despite the loss, Sam Houston saw an underclassman step up: Rylan Austin scored 21 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Brock, who scored nine points.
Even though Arlington has not done well against Martin recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Arlington made off with a 49-48 victory over Martin.
Sam Houston has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Arlington, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17.
Everything went Sam Houston's way against Arlington when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Sam Houston made off with a 75-49 win. Will Sam Houston repeat their success, or does Arlington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
