Basketball Recap: Hinkley Comes Up Short

Hinkley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 41-18 to the Thornton Trojans. If the Thunder were looking for revenge after losing 47-23 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Hinkley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alexsandra Ortiz Hernandez posted four points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Ortiz Hernandez is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Hinkley's record is now 0-10. As for Thornton, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Hinkley will head out to face off against Regis Groff at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Regis Groff will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hinkley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thornton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-23 defeat against Skyview on the 28th.
