Basketball Recap: Dilley Comes Up Short

Dilley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Hondo Owls 68-36. The Wolves lost against the Owls in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 56-51 score last time.

Isaiah Kinsey and Angel Martinez certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kinsey posted ten points, while Martinez put up ten points along with seven boards and four steals. Those seven rebounds gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sambrano, who had seven points.

Dilley's record now sits at 0-16. As for Hondo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-16.

Dilley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 93-44 loss against Crystal City on the 20th. Hondo has also already played their next matchup, a 64-58 victory against Poteet on the 20th.
