Baseball Recap: Lovington Beats Loving for Their Third Straight Victory

Lovington entered their tilt with Loving on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Falcons 13-1. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ethan Gonzales made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Patrick Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Wieser, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Lovington's record is now 7-5. As for Loving, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovington will venture away from home to face off against Roswell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Loving, they will head out to take on Eunice at 3:00 p.m. on April 5.
