Manor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 19-16 to the Vandegrift Vipers. On the bright side, the 16- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring game to date.
Emerie Perez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Perez was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Manor got a massive performance out of Aubrey Guerrero, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mia Esqueda, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Manor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Vandegrift, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Manor is set to square off against their familiar foe Vista Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Vandegrift will face off against rival Cedar Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for the Vipers: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Raiders have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
