Basketball Recap: Griffith's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

The third road game was the charm for Griffith, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They managed a 40-35 win over the Illiana Christian Vikings on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Illiana Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lauren Paliga dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Paliga. Jaylyn Podlin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

With the victory, Griffith broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Illiana Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Griffith will challenge Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th. As for Illiana Christian, they have already played their next matchup, a 52-21 win against Heritage Christian on the 2nd.
