Recap: Cartersville Hurricanes vs. Cass Colonels
The Cartersville Hurricanes lost to the Cass Colonels back in February of 2023, but the Cartersville Hurricanes didn't allow the Cass Colonels the same satisfaction on Friday. Cartersville pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over Cass. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cartersville.
Cartersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DJ Cain, who scored six points along with 20 rebounds and three blocks. Kaden Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Cass still got an impressive performance from Jakai Baldwin, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Foster, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Cartersville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Cass, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cartersville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gilmer at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Gilmer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cartersville in Georgia (Gilmer is ranked 117th, while Cartersville is ranked 320th). As for Cass, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hiram at 7:30 p.m.
