Lakeside is 8-2 against Perris since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lancers will take on the Panthers at 3:15 p.m. Lakeside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Lakeside took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Temecula Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears on Saturday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since April 5th.

Michaela Alverado was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savana Swick, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Evelyn Sotelo was another key player, earning two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perris). They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over Rancho Christian on Thursday. Considering the Panthers have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Lakeside, Perris also got a great game from a two-way player: Priscilla Diaz. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Diaz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Perris got a massive performance out of Anahi Morales, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with six stolen bases and four runs. Morales continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Iliana Torres also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Perris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
The win snapped Perris' losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-10 record. As for Lakeside, their record is now 9-16.
Perris' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Lakeside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Perris, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Lakeside keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Lakeside took their victory against Perris in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
