Basketball Game Preview: GVCS Broadfording Lions vs. Heritage Academy Eagles

GVCS Broadfording and Heritage Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The two teams will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

After dropping their season opener at home, Heritage Academy is headed out to face a Lions team ready to give their home crowd a win. GVCS Broadfording took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frederick W on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, GVCS Broadfording got top-tier performance from Nashon Mann, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Mann has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Fernando Garcia was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Heritage Academy kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a hard 70-56 fall against Rosedale Christian Academy.

GVCS Broadfording didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Heritage Academy when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory.
