Recap: Desert Pines Jaguars vs. Foothill Falcons
Even though the Foothill Falcons scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, the Desert Pines Jaguars still came out on top. Desert Pines snuck past Foothill with a 64-59 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Desert Pines.
Desert Pines had a senior duo take command as Damonte Duhart dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds and Joe Brown scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Duhart's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Coleman, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zak Abdalla. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Abdalla's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shawn Salazar, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Desert Pines' win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Foothill, they bumped their record down to 10-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Desert Pines will square off against Bishop Gorman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Gorman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Desert Pines likes a good challenge. As for Foothill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mojave at 6:30 p.m. Mojave is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
