Basketball Recap: Live Oak Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Live Oak and West Valley squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Live Oak had to settle for second. They were dealt a 77-28 loss at the hands of the West Valley Eagles. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it 12 in a row.

West Valley was led to victory by Blaze Collins and Jordan Heacock. Collins went 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Heacock went 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games he's played. Zack Boemeke was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for West Valley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-10.

Live Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-40 win against Lassen on the 21st.
