Recap: Graham Steers vs. Boyd Yellowjackets
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jim Ned, the Graham Steers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Boyd 50-48. Given Graham's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Boyd is ranked 864th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boyd's loss came despite strong showings from Payton Boyer and Lex Horton. Boyer scored 18 points, while Horton scored 18 points. Boyer scored a full 37.5% of Boyd's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Graham has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Boyd, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Graham will be playing at home against Bridgeport at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boyd, they will take on Sweetwater at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Sweetwater has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 306 points over their last five matchups.
