Football Recap: Catoosa Indians vs. Cushing Tigers

Catoosa had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-10 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 48-0 loss at the hands of the Cushing Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 40-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Matthew Compton threw for 35 yards while completing 73.3% of his passes. Brandon Hampton was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Devin Johnson rushed for 35 yards.

As for Cushing, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Considering they have won six games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cushing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roman Tucker led the charge by throwing for 206 yards and four TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Tucker has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last seven times he's played. Cushing's leading receiver Bryce Ward was Tucker's top target yet again, picking up 127 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Catoosa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cushing, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 63-34 victory against Hilldale on the 14th.
