Softball Recap: Summersville Wildcats vs. Van Buren Bulldogs
Summersville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Van Buren Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
Riley Buttress spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
