If South Effingham wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Brunswick, they should've done a better job of containing Heze Kent. The Brunswick Pirates breezed by the South Effingham Mustangs to the tune of 73-46 on Saturday thanks in part to Kent, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played.
The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Creel, who posted six points and seven boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.
Despite the loss, South Effingham still got an impressive performance from Will Harlin, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Corbin Mcguire, who earned six points.
The win made it two in a row for Brunswick and bumps their season record up to 18-2. As for South Effingham, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Brunswick beat South Effingham by a score of 93-57 on Monday.
