Recap: Mayfair Monsoons vs. Mount Miguel Matadors
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mayfair Monsoons walked away with it. They blew past the Matadors 52-21 at home. The win was familiar territory for Mayfair who now have six in a row.
Mount Miguel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Barton, who rushed for 98 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Parris Vernon, who gained 59 total yards and two touchdowns.
Mayfair has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Mount Miguel, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Mayfair will take on Marin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Marin Catholic's defense has only allowed 7.6 points per game this season, so Mayfair's offense will have their work cut out for Mayfair. Mount Miguel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
