Softball Recap: Greensburg Central Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against Ellis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greensburg Central Catholic). Everything went their way against Ellis on Monday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with Ellis: they've now won five in a row.

Julianna Saxion was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Madelyn Bova was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Dei, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Greensburg Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.

The win got Greensburg Central Catholic back to even at 4-4. As for Ellis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coincidentally, Greensburg Central Catholic and Ellis will both be playing Serra Catholic the next time they take the field. Ellis will head out to face the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Centurions will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
