Baseball Recap: Dr. Phillips Comes Up Short

Dr. Phillips fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lake Howell on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lake Howell Silverhawks by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Charles Estrella-Roa was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

At the plate, Ramses De Maio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Chris Pedrinan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Dr. Phillips dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lake Howell, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dr. Phillips will venture away from home to take on Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Howell, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lake Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Mary will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lake Howell surely won't give up without a fight.
