Basketball Game Preview: The Gregory School Hawks vs. San Simon Longhorns

After both having extra time off, The Gregory School Hawks and the San Simon Longhorns will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Back in December of 2024, The Gregory School had to suffer through a 66-12 loss at the hands of Benson. The game marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Zena Smith was The Gregory School's leading scorer, having posted six points. Lauren Horowitz took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Meanwhile, San Simon lost 35-14 to Duncan two weeks ago. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Simon's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for The Gregory School, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: The Gregory School has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.5 boards per game. However, it's not like San Simon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

The Gregory School beat San Simon 32-21 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for The Gregory School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
