Volleyball Recap: Brad Chier Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Hilltop

Victory Christian Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hilltop Lancers by a score of 3-1.

Victory Christian Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-19.

Victory Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brad Chier led the charge by getting 21 kills, 13 digs, and four aces. That's the most digs Chier has posted over his last eight games. Another player making a difference was Esteban Torres, who had eight digs and four aces.

Chier wasn't the only good server: Victory Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests.

Victory Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Hilltop's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, Victory Christian Academy will square off against Liberty Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hilltop, they will face off against Madison at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
