Basketball Recap: Port Gibson Blue Waves vs. Wesson Cobras
The Port Gibson Blue Waves had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They really took it to Wesson for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-27 win on the road. With Port Gibson ahead 39-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Rekiyah Washington had a dynamite game for Port Gibson, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Camara Evans, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Port Gibson is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Wesson, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.
Port Gibson will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Eagles at 5:00 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Mississippi (South Pike is ranked 113th, while the Blue Waves are ranked 117th). Wesson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
