Parrish Community gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the North Port Bobcats to the tune of 48-7. The Bulls' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Brycen Volz was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 171 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Parrish Community's leading receiver Brandon Trucano was Volz's top target yet again, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Trucano, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Parrish Community's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Ty Baker and Kaleb Exume, who each picked up one sack apiece. Parrish Community got some further help from Baker: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parrish Community will square off against Bayshore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Port, they will challenge Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
