Soccer Game Preview: Lumberton vs. Cape Fear

The Lumberton Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Cape Fear Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lumberton's offense. They lost 6-0 to Purnell Swett on Tuesday. Lumberton have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cape Fear entered their tilt with Gray's Creek on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Bears. Give Cape Fear's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Cape Fear, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-2.

Lumberton couldn't quite get it done against Cape Fear in their previous meeting on Monday as they fell 2-0. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
