Soccer Game Preview: Dougherty vs. Monroe

The Dougherty Trojans will square off against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dougherty's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Dougherty fell victim to Bainbridge and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Bearcats. While losing is never fun, Dougherty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Bainbridge are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, Monroe also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Cairo on Wednesday, falling 10-0. Monroe have struggled against Cairo recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Dougherty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Dougherty got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Monroe by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Tornadoes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
